The maintenance moment is in the night of 8 to 9 July 20201. Musicdott will then not be accessible between 23:00 and 05:00 (GMT +1).
In addition to the further development of Musicdott, we also ensure that our servers remain safe and up to date. We have therefore decided to migrate to a new operating system. Here we go again for the techies among you ;-). Since February 11, Musicdott runs on Debian 10 (Linux), with Apache2 as web server and PHP 7.3 can be used. This ensures a stable, safe and future-oriented environment so that we can continue to guarantee continuity, stability and security. In addition, all necessary updates are installed on our servers on a monthly basis to ensure continuity, stability and security. The servers are monitored 24×7 by our management system and we receive a signal at the very least. We intervene preventively and you will not notice any further. In 2020 we only performed planned maintenance on our systems and we can proudly report an uptime of 100%. We will also achieve this again in 2021.
Because continuity and performance are very important to us, it was decided to further expand the server environment for Musicdott. A second server has been placed to synchronize the database, website and mail environment. We have chosen not to let you notice it again and we succeeded again! We had already taken care of a good external backup of the data and, of course, also did not lose sight of security. The operating system is regularly updated with the latest security updates. Should something still go wrong, our management system will inform us and we can take immediate action. In the network drawing below you can see how the Musicdott environment is set up and that we do everything we can to ensure that the systems are available 24×7.
If the last teacher account is deleted, the system will automatically log the teacher out and the teacher will not be able to access anything anymore. This is not a desirable situation. Fix by not offering the option to delete the very last account. When canceling Musicdott, no idea why someone would want that ;-), we will ensure that everything is deleted in accordance with AVG / GDPR. SOLVED The logged in teacher cannot delete his / her own account.

Update: Because we encountered some weird bugs in the new version, it was decided to restore the old version. We will wait a while for the bug fixes from Groovescribe before we start using the new version in production again. The latest Groovescribe update has been installed today. We received the following three points for improvement from the developer: Export at PNG, SVG Set tempo manually Update color scheme So it is correct if you think the logo has a different color. It takes some getting used to hear that green, but the operation has not changed. I also read that a number of improvements have been made to make the embed code more visible. We had already solved this with our own fix, but it has now also been solved officially. Grooveze!
If you click on a song in your own Spotify playlist (student environment), or try to play a song from your student’s playlist via the teacher module, you will only hear a sample of the song of approximately 29 to 30 seconds. This is because you are no longer logged in to your web browser in Spotify. This may be because you have a new pc / mac, have started using a different web browser or you have reset the settings of your browser. The solution is very simple. Start Spotify (https://www.spotify.com) in the same browser as where you open Musicdott (preference for Google Chrome).Log in with your Spotify account.Refresh the Musicdott pageVoila, your playlist will play full songs again.
